Reliable parts, consistent service

This was my third order from OpenBuilds, this time for some C-Beam Linear Rail and a couple of Xtreme Solid V Wheel Kits. Like previous times, the parts were exactly as described and fit perfectly with my existing projects. Shipping took about 5 days, which is pretty standard for them in my experience. I've always found their components to be high quality for the price point, especially compared to some other suppliers I've tried. Their Drop In Tee Nuts are always a lifesaver. Never had an issue with an order yet, which keeps me coming back when I need more hardware.

Solid NEMA 23, quick support

I bought a NEMA 23 Stepper Motor and a Mean Well Power Supply. Ordering was easy on their site, and they shipped it out pretty fast; got my package in 4 days. I had a quick question about wiring the power supply, and their customer service replied to my email within a few hours. The motor works great with my current setup, and the power supply is stable. Everything was packaged well, no damage. Good experience overall.

Good kit, shipping slow

I ordered the WorkBee CNC kit and it arrived mostly as expected. Assembly was straightforward enough. The quality of the V-Slot Linear Rail and other components seemed solid for the price. My only real complaint was shipping; it took 7 days to get to me in Oregon, which felt a bit long.

quick question, can you stack discount codes on their site? I have a newsletter one and saw something about a bulk discount.

J James Walsh 2 months ago
Nah, I tried that before. They usually only let you use one promo code at checkout. Sucks, but that's how most places do it.

Pretty sure they don't allow stacking coupons. You'll probably have to pick the better deal between the two you have.

Anyone know if their stuff is legit, like actual quality? Or is it like some of the cheaper knock-offs you see?

D Dana 2 months ago
Oh yeah, totally legit. Their V-Slot and other hardware is solid. I've built a few machines with their parts and they hold up great.

It's the real deal. Don't confuse it with some of the super cheap Vevor stuff. OpenBuilds is known for good quality in the maker community.

I'm looking at the Lead CNC, but also checking out Inventables. How does OpenBuilds compare with competitors like Inventables or Shapeoko?

T Troy Foster 1 month ago
OpenBuilds is more open source and modular, which is awesome if you like to tinker and upgrade. Inventables is more plug-and-play, but you're a bit more locked into their ecosystem.

Depends on your budget and how much you want to customize. OpenBuilds tends to be more flexible and often a better value if you're willing to assemble it yourself. Shapeoko is also good, but can be pricier for similar size.

Hey, thinking of getting the Sphinx CNC. Does OpenBuilds ship to Canada and how long does it usually take?

E Elena 2 months ago
Yeah, they ship internationally. I got my WorkBee a few months back and it took about 10 days to get to Vancouver, customs was pretty quick.

They do, I'm in Toronto and it was around 2 weeks for my order. Depends on what you get though, if it's a big kit it might take a bit longer.
